Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    Strange Noise from Rear of TDI

    I been doing a bit of an out of city trip this weekend, down in portland and got out to take a photo, left the engine running, i noticed a sound like some kind of electric motor running/pumping. sounded like it was coming from the same sort of place as where the tail pipes exit.

    any ideas anyone?


    got back to port fairy (base for the weekend) and tried to recreate it without any success.

      Sounds about right actually. never been outside the car when its running much before.
