Jetta Mk5 - Front Number Plate Mounting

OK - so what's the best way to mount your front plate on the Jetta? There's a big expanse of curved chrome, and my plate was mounted fairly high so it sticks out at a weird looking angle.

I'm getting a slimline plate made, and today I happened to see a Jetta with a specialised plate mount that fitted flush with the bumper, and provided a flat surface for the plate ... but it was made for the wide euro style plates that you can't get in the ACT.

What have you other Jetta owners done?

I've just drilled some holes in line with the frame (on the inside of the grill). It helps to take the grill off and use the frame on the back side as a guide to where the holes should be.
