Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I'm sure it would be more effort than its worth.
Honestly, how often do you need to adjust the height anyway.?

An electrically controlled drivers seat is an option on an R32 5-door, (the seat itself doesn't change from what I can tell, just the adjustment mechanism), so it should be possible.

I'm considering the electric seat as an option on my R32, but only because the car is likely to have 2 regular drivers (and rather than fiddling around every time, the electric seat remembers a few settings). If you're the sole/main driver, it's probably not worth the effort - the pump's hardly difficult to use!
      Nothing to see here...

Have you priced the electric motors for the seats? The one on my Liberty was failing after 4 years - was going to be $1,500 + GST + labour!

The GTI's manual height system will do me just fine
2018 Golf GTI, Manual - gone.
2017 Golf 110tsi Trendline, manual (gone - gladly)
2007 Golf GTI, Manual, (gone - sadly)

Bi-Xenons are only a $1890 AUD option when new, to purchase just the light housing and ballast now is $2400 USD + all the work to fit it and other parts like washers etc. It's probably a $4000 proposition to install them unless you find a suitable doner car where it would be a lot cheaper.

I wouldn't be surprised if it would end up costing $2-3000 to get the parts and fit them. Don't forget the wiring loom won't have the connections for it and it may also have a different body control computer (or whatever controls the memory side). As above be best to find a crashed R32 and part it out.
