  • Yianni's GT Sport TDI

So here it is, my first car! 2008 Golf GT Sport with 90,000 km on the clock. Clean little car, puts out 125 kW and 350 nM at the moment, I'm probably going to run it stock until I get bored of it. Being a P Plater there's not really much I can do anyway. Visually wise, I have a few subtle mods in mind that will add to the OEM look I'm going for.

First Mod is a GTI multi-function steering wheel, cheers for the help Deadpool (even though the horn doesn't currently work )

    Next up I'm looking at:

    - GTI/R32 sideskirts
    - Painting the break calipers red (no silly brembo stickers though)
    - RCD/RNS 510 (unsure which one to go for)

You're driving a car without a working horn? That's quite dangerous.

Just make sure you will it with BP and always drive the wheels off it. Babying it will clog up the motor and DPF. I've just clocked 200,000km on my GT TDI and it hasn't missed a beat because I do those two things.

Go RNS510. It's worth it in the long run and you can add stuff to it later if you want.

Don't paint the calipers red. It's not a GTI. If you have to paint it, get the rear valance done. Looks much neater.

Keen on selling your original steering wheel?

Great looking GT, side skirts will look great.

I'll be selling my RNS510 Rev F shortly BTW.

Where abouts are you mate? Drop me a PM if you need a hand with anything, you really need to get that horn sorted ASAP. Unroadworthy vehicles aren't good for anybody.

Thanks for the advice mate, at the moment I'm holding on to it but in the near future I'll probably sell it.

So it's been a while since I updated this thread, and quite a few things have been ticked off my list. First up I got rid of that telephone pole of an antenna, and replaced it with a small stubby antenna from ebay for a steal price of 5$ (surprisingly no signal loss).

Next came the Plast-dip ! I was going to order some from the states, but then I found some at my local bunnings for 20$ a can (matte black). I also took off the 2.0 badge next to the TDI and replaced it with a GT badge (thank you poyta for the inspiration ). I decided to leave the red I instead of painting it black, and the results are awesome!

My car has been in need of a DSG service since I bought it, and the dealer asked for 700$. I ain't having that, so I decided to do some research and I am now going to tackle the DSG service at home! Ordered the kit for ECS tuning as well as GTI sideskirts (it made more sense to pay 100$ shipping for more stuff than just one package). I've installed the sideskirts, and now I'm looking for a VCDS cable to do the service.

Alright I've written enough, here's some pictures

The roof antenna is AM and FM is amplified and connected to the body, goes via the rear windscreen
