Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

      Mr Walker,

I'm running 38 psi in the front and 34 in the rears in my jetta TDI.

Done 41,000km now with a rotate at 30,000km.

The rears are sadder then the fronts 'cause of the extra km's and expect I'll get a minimum of 45 -50,000km from all 4 with the tread left.

The wife drives the jetta mostly and she ain't easy on it. Easily chirps tyres even with the Traction control on! Shhh didn't tell her I know.

When I replace them I don't thinlk I'll get contis 'cause of the cost. Roughly quoted $100 dearer than most 205/55/16s.

      Cheers and happy motoring.

I just did mine up to 38 all round, but I think I'll let the rears down to 36 and see how that feels. They're probably not quite 38 anyway, cause they were slightly warm when I filled them at the servo. I have to get myself a small compressor so I can experiment easily.

I'm planning to try and rotate them every 10,000, but we'll see if I get around to it.

Yeah I saw somewhere that the Conti SC2's are about $350 per corner. Ouch! Like i mentioned in another thread, my lease company says they insist on replacing with identical tyres, but we'll see how that goes when the time comes

        Cheers,

        Walker
