Hi Golfers, I made an offer on an FSI 2007, but too late as usual!
So shopping list now allows for up to 35,000km/3 years old.
So maybe you can help (don't bother telling me to get a manual - I can't drive them!)...
Apr 2005 Sportline with heated leather seats and sunroof at 35,000km.
Apr 2005 Comfortline 2lFSI sunroof at 8,750km (v low but smoker's car, so dealer would steam clean it).

I can get extended warranty on the latter, as it's through a dealer-friend.
Have to take my chances on the former. They both look like being about $28,500 on road.

...or better to wait for an 06/07 to hit the market and snap it up this time?

    Thanks!

It might be a bit far for you but Central coast motor group which includes
the VW franchise had a Comfortline TDI DSG says low k's for $25990
Might still be negotiable at that price. In this weeks local paper.

Thanks for the tip Neil - will do some more investigating.
Not a great question to ask, as noone here knows my needs, so maybe a better question would be:
What expenses am I likely to face between 35000km and 60,000km, that I wouldn't encounter with a new/10,000km car?
...tyres? brakes? belt? dearer services than the 15000 and 30000?
And should I give more weight to the fact that a car is 3 years old adn out of warranty, or its fabulously low 8000km?

      Cheers,
      V

You'll have a set of pads to do and a couple of services - But nothing major really.

If you're not a smoker, stay away from smoker's cars - it's impossible to get them totally clean.

If you're not in a desperate hurry to purchase, bide your time, and wait for the car that's exactly what you want to show up - it will show...
          Nothing to see here...

            VolX,

At this stage, the car you are looking to buy, don't offer them more than $25K. Retail is slow at the moment and dealers are very quiet, desperate to sell anything. Three months ago I let my 2.0L TDi Comfortline with 22k's MY06 go for $23K. Good things always come to those who wait, so Good Luck!

...thank you so so much for the advice -
              1. I feared the smoke smell would remain... when I opened the doors it hit me like a cloud.

              2. As for selling your TDI at 23k - not so surprising...same cars are listed as wheb I was looking in jan/feb!
With list prices I think people are looking up 'value' on carpoint, or Redbook and taking it as gospel. I've never known a car to sell for anything near those quotes.

So in summary, I have walked and trammed for 5 months now since my car died, so I guess a few more weekends hunting won't kill me!

Let you know when I find it!

                  Volx,
I lease part of my workshop (downstairs area) to a car wholesaler, and he can help us with finding cars at wholesale price. Let us know what you are looking for, and I can check with him on monday what he can get. Golfs are in demand, but he can often find them at the better price than retail.

                      Volx,

The working day has almost ended, no luck today.. but I am going to a pre launch of the New Audi A4 on thursday morning, and will catch up with a few vw dealers at the same time. Will ask them if they can help. I will let you know if anything good comes up.

Good things always come to those who wait
