Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • What size tyres?

    Hey guys,

I got my new wheels and now I need some tyres, they are 18x8.5 ET45 and my GTI will be lowered by around 30mm.

    Can I fit 235 35s or am I stuck with 225 40s?

Also who do people go to in Adelaide for their tyres? need to get them asap as my current tyres are almost bald.

    thanks in advance guys.

It's an 8.5" rim 215s are a no go. The minimum I want to run is 225, a 235 would be better but I'd like to hear from anyone running this size and the potential issues I might face.

I have heard of a few bad experiences with the Cluse Bros TP might give them a miss, cheers for the input though.
