  • Shark Fin Antenna

    Hi Guys,

My stock antenna is playing up and starting to give up on me so im thinking of changing it with the shark fin style to my MK5 r32.

I cant seem to find anything on ebay and what not that is specifically for mk5 golf. I found alot for Jetta, mk4 etc. My question is, will the mk4 one fit perfectly to my car?

Im just after AM/FM radio only. I dont need the gps etc.

    Thanks,
    Henry

    Hi mate,

I replaced mine recently. I bought it off ECS Tuning, shipping shouldn't be too expensive for it.

you will also need two of these (403 Forbidden).

And here is the tutorial how to do it..
DIY - Euro OEM Shark-Fin Antenna Swap - VW GTI Forum / VW Rabbit Forum / VW R32 Forum / VW Golf Forum - Golfmkv.com

But I think that you lose AM stations with the shark fin, and that the shark fin is not as good as the stock. But if you don't listen to the radio, then who cares. Shark fin looks better.

    Good luck.

The shark fin you are referring to isn't for fm/am freq. It for cellphone/gsm.
If you want to retain your FM/AM radio than you need one of these.

And no MK4 wont work, diffrent connector. mk4 is raku2, while mkv is fakra.

What is that exactly? I am after a lower profile antenna for my MKV R32 as I need to get it through a very low entrance that occasionally hits the antenna.

Than you need to find specialy made fm/am freq antenna. The oem low profile shark fins aren't radio freq. They are for GPS, cellphone etc... .

Why dont you just get a stubby antenna that screws into the standard base
