  • How much is my car worth now?

    Hi all,

Any ideas how much is my car worth now? Thinking of having a bigger car, as just found that my wife is pregnant (my first baby )

MY07 Golf GTI (Registered end of August)
    Done just over 10000km
Reflex Silver (nicely color coded front, rear and side)
    DSG
    Leather seats/trim
    Sunroof
    Factory Tinted Windows
Fifth Dimension interior/exterior Scratch and Dent protection worth $1500 (2 years warranty)
The only modification it has is APR stage 1 ECU upgrade
Still in top condition (shiny as new)...

    Thanks guy!

You will cry when you look up REDBOOK prices. Why change to a bigger car I have had Fairlanes and they have space but it comes with a premium. My advice is keep the car and save money.

First, congrats! That's wonderful news - dad!
Second, many people consider the Golf a family car - there is plenty of room in the back for a capsule and heaps of space for a Bugaboo stroller in the boot.
Third, selling a car after a year is bad news - as some poor darl is about to discover when I offer her $10,000 less than she paid a year ago for her FSI Comfortline...
Keep the wheels you love - you're becoming parents, not missionaries!

You must have 6 months or more left to enjoy the Golf then!!

Seriously, I was running a Corrado when my eldest arrived. There is no need to go selling a hatch for something bigger in my opinion.

        Have another think......

The best way to get a guide as to what your car is worth would be to have a look on Carsales.com.au,as well as the used car section at volkswagen.com.au
You should do well privately, where you will get close to retail.
Dont trade in,you will get wholesale.
Look in the local paper, often traders are looking for cars.
Dont forget VW has amongst the best resale values, and are very desirable.
It might pay you to keep your car for a little bit longer.
Or trade it for a Jetta or Passat, with their enormous boots.
          Or wait for the Tiguan.

            Congrats to you both!!

You guys should all start a "bub in the dub" club and compare notes!

My two are 9yo and 6yo, and I'm considering putting them in the Jetta's huge boot when travelling ... to cut down on cabin noise

There's plenty of room to play in there

Golf will be fine as a kid-carrier.

I'm 2m tall, my son is 16mths and already a tall little fella, we're planning a second one and I'm in no rush to get rid of the Jetta ... they're a fine size as a family conveyance!

                .
Carsales or Dreamsales, people will never tell you what they actually sold a car for.

                Close to retail OK.

Considering an 08 Gti went for Advertised $42K with 2,000km on it, I'd say $35K and you are doing well. A heap of Gti's for sale atm.

I haven't checked prices but 35K seems too low for a fully featured, 07 GTI with 10 on the clock. I certainly wouldn't sell it for that.

Quick question, is it 3 or 5 door?

Yeah, for 1 child its more than enough. i regularly take 4 adult passengers and myself in the car and im 6'3".OK the person behind me is a little squashed at times, but i reckon u will have a few years before that will become a problem.

                        o.k. so if it's a 5dr with 10K, price scanario is roughly- 36.5

Take into account it has leather, sunroof, tinted windows, has 5th dimension and is colour coded. With an APR stage 1 (good or bad depending on buyer), that's gotta be worth a bit to the value.

final reasonable sale price, perhaps $40K IMO.

                          congrats on the impending arrival!
personally i would keep the car. It will be sufficient to carry the stuff you need for a baby. What you will be able to do is try out the different car seats/capsules available in the car and then decide which one allows maximum front passenger room etc.. some are quite bulky and the front seat needs to be moved forward etc. also do the same with the pram/pusher.. try and fit it in the back of the golf before buying.. oh.. and make sure mum can lift it in and out without hassles. there are varying degrees of engineering in prams/pushers so some fold up quite small and others not so well.

different story if you have twins/triplets etc...

I am not convinced that new arrival means you have to get rid of the golf. My wife and I and 3 kids fit into my GTI easily. We have another bigger car - Camry - which we could use on the weekend but we all prefer the Golf!.

                            Keep it if you can.

i agree with everyone else. what is this you're having a baby and all of a sudden drop all vw's!?!?! get your priorities straight

seroiusly though what do you actually plan on doing that would require more space than the golf?
