  • Blue Graphite GT Sport TDI

Well I've had the car over a week now and been a bit lazy with photos so here they are.
I'll be doing a couple more side on photos in the near future too.
Same location, same camera angle so see the true difference in height as the Neuspeed springs and Koni FSD's get put in tomorrow so I'll give it a week or two to settle then take the extra shots.

Very interested to hear this too. This is the most contentious option for me on an R32 - I've used some terrible factory satnav systems in the past, and if the VW one isn't top notch, I'll avoid it.
                Nothing to see here...

Overall I think the unit is very good.
It uses the latest Whereis maps as do most sat nav units in AU
This can be run from the disc or loaded to the hard drive leaving the cd drive free for music or a DVD movie.
The 30 Gb built in hard drive is great and it is quick and easy to load songs from either an SD card or a CD.
20 Gb is available for mp3 files and the other 10Gb is reserved for mapping.
The unit boots up in about 20 seconds, starting the process as soon as you open a door.
Accessing the SD card or HD for songs is almost instantaneous.
Route calculation is quick and the unit gives 3 route options and displays them on the map asking you to choose which one via the touch screen.
There is no option to change the navigation instruction voice however if i had the option of this voice on my tomtom then this is the one i would use.
The instructions are clear and consise and its one of the best nav instruction voices i have heard.
There are plenty of memory options for routes with the unit automatically saving recent destinations and allowing these to be saved as favourites and renamed if desired.

The unit intergrates very well with the factory bluetooth giving good phone functionality via the touch screen.

The phone display and nav instruction comes through on the Highline MFD and the total intergration in my opinion is excellent

The only thing that i dont like with the unit is that you cannot add your own POI's however there is a work around for this with instructions available online to add custom PIO categories to the nav DVD and reloading it to the RNS510's hard drive.

Anyone in Melbourne that would like to have a look and a play with the unit is free to send me a PM and we can catch up.
If anyone want any more specific information please feel free to ask.

You beat me to it Bazz, I figured "explore" was some sort of gay magazine.

Awesome to see you have your car mate. After seeing Jamies car in that colour at the dyno day, my previously "smart" looking grey is starting to look a little bland! Awesome colour choice, but DAMN, you had to wait for it.

Hope you are enjoying the drive!

I dont believe you can load movies onto the hard drive but i havent actually tried it.
The unit doesnt play divx files so you would soon use up the 20 GB if you were loading DVD movies onto it.

As for playback quality, i havent looked at that either. I'll give it a go tonight or tomorrow and let you know.
