Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

That varies from company to company. A friend of mine had a BA Falcon XR6-T on a novated lease, and he was allowed to modify it as long as the modifications were legal and roadworthy.

I'll check what Autopia have to say on that - they're who I'll likely go through for mine when I bite the bullet, and I'd hate to have to miss out on some of the mods I want...
    Nothing to see here...

I wouldn't bother asking your dealer about the ins and outs of your situation. They can give you a run down of how leases work, but at the end of the day, you really should consult a professional, or professional leasing company, to ensure that you choose the best method for you.

As has been said, you need to be aware of things like FBT, etc.

i'm actually considering leasing the car, as I am a manager at work, I should be able to claim some of the repayments on tax.

What are your thoughts of leasing???????
Do you do business kilometers other than work-home? Your position means squat when it comes to tax deductions. Travelling to and from the office from home doesn't count, you need to do business travel outside your daily commute between home and office.

I'm an engineer that does lots of business related travel (85% of my travel is to sites I service) therefore I get huge tax benefits but I choose to take a personal loan instead of lease. I may be a few dollars better off on lease but I don't have anywhere near the flexibility.

Leasing can be good under the right circumstances and could cost you a fortune under the wrong ones. If you do little to no 'business' kilometers then expect little to no tax deduction, it doesn't mean that a lease wouldn't suit you though. You'll need to sit down with someone in the know and discuss your situation.
