  • Turbo Timer, Boost Gauge, BOV, Intercooler?

    Hey guys
I purchased a new VW Jetta TFSI DSG and i was just wondering a few things

    1) Im looking at getting a boost gauge for the car. Does anyone have one in their GTI/Jetta TFSI? And if so, what did you get? (Im looking at getting some DEFI BF's)

    2) Do any aftermarket places make blow off valves for the VW turbos? (coming from the JDM side of things I know nothing about DTM and its tuners)

    3) is there an aftermarket intercooler available for the GTI/jetta turbos?

      1) Here is a Defi gauge with OSIR pod that I helped install. Note that since connecting up to the "lights on" signal it is now not blindingly bright.

heres my fully installed Defi boost gauge with its OSIR pod! massive thanks to MrX who helped me install it this arvo after the GTG... we make a great GTI DIY team! also thanks to Roland (aka yzfm146) who sold me the gauge and pod for a great price and gave me a drive of...

      2) Technically there is no such thing as a BOV for the TFSI engine, as they vent back into the intake, rather than the atmosphere. The closest thing you will find is the Forge diverter valve (which I use) and it is available with a "noise spacer" (which I don't have).

      3) Yes, there are Forge, Neuspeed & Oettinger that I'm aware of (probably others) but they all cost an arm and a leg. There is a guy that has one for sale from the Golfmkv forum (in Perth) if you're interested.

In terms of performance & reliability of performance you'd get much more bang for buck from a reflash & replacement diverter valve before getting an intercooler.

Edit: Oh yeah, and you don't need a turbo timer as the engine in these things have an auxillary pump which automatically circulates coolant for a while after you turn the engine off.
