Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • New Additions to the Volkswagen Golf Range

Special Model Edition and Pacific with Extra Value and Comprehensive Safety

Since its introduction in May 1974, the Golf model has established itself as a best-selling car for Volkswagen both in and outside of Germany for more than three decades in spite of constantly growing competition. The Golf possesses a genuinely classless status that crosses all social borders. Its owners value their car for its authenticity, its comfort, its safety and its unbounded suitability for everyday use as well as for perfect attention to detail, high standards of material quality, and the general ease of travel, which the Golf enables.

Thanks to its technical qualities and sovereign good looks, the fifth generation Volkswagen Golf, introduced in October 2004 in Australia, has assumed an enviable position in the world market.

To continue the trend, Volkswagen Group Australia has introduced two Golf special models, the 'Edition' and 'Pacific'. The two new models provide a refreshing appearance offering a significant level of equipment and Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP), now standard across the entire Golf range.

    Golf Edition

The new Golf Edition shows the evolution of a classic Volkswagen; Bristol 15 inch alloy wheels and body coloured enhancements give the exterior its new appeal. The interior echoes polished flair, with matt chrome decorative inserts, multifunction steering wheel and anthracite/grey cloth trim upholstery. The Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), with Electronic Brake pressure Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist and 6 airbags give control in any driving situation.

    Golf Pacific

The new Golf Pacific includes all the features of the Edition and more. It combines luxurious style with the confidence of authentic on-road safety. You'll instantly recognise the Golf Pacific as a charismatic car that's ready for action. With anthracite sports cloth upholstery, cruise control and rain sensing wipers, it makes driving the Pacific a breeze. Body coloured exterior styling, front fog lights and Mugello 16 inch alloy wheels, along with the characteristic 'Pacific' tailgate badge, all highlight this car's stylish pedigree.

    Safety

The Golf sets high standards for passenger protection. It offers comprehensive safety equipment in all versions with Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP) including Brake Assist and ABS, standard across the range. In the passenger compartment, the Golf is equipped with front, side, and curtain airbags, safety optimised head restraints, three-point seat belts with tensioners as well as pedals that retract in the event of a crash. In the rear, three head restraints and three-point seat belts protect the occupants. The crash behaviour of the body structure achieves the highest score of five stars in the Euro-NCAP test.

    Engines

    1.6 Edition

Volkswagen's latest innovations to this superbly engineered 1.6 litre petrol engine ensure smooth motoring with 75kW of power and 148Nm of torque. Transmission options are a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic.

    1.9 TDI Edition

Along with impressive torque and compelling performance, you'll enjoy even greater fuel efficiency and a smaller environmental footprint with Volkswagen's 1.9 litre turbo diesel injected (TDI) Edition. The cleaner-burning 77kW TDI engine offers you exceptional fuel economy of just 5.5L/100km* in the 6-speed manual, making trips of 1,000kms possible on a single tank.
    * Fuel consumption figures according to Australian Design Rule (ADR) 81/01.

    2.0 FSI Pacific

FSI is Volkswagen's innovative direct petrol injection technology, injecting fuel into the cylinders in acutely precise amounts, to reduce petrol consumption, while increasing performance. The 2.0 FSI engine produces 110kW of power at 6,000 rpm and 200Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. You can combine it with the 6-speed manual transmission or the automatic 6-speed Tiptronic transmission with Dynamic Selection Program (DSP).

    2.0 TDI Pacific

The 2.0 TDI engine combines Volkswagen's acclaimed Pumpe-Düse design with multi-valve technology, to deliver a torque that will compete with many V6 petrol engines. You'll enjoy 103kW of power at 4,000 rpm and an enormous 320Nm of torque from as low as 1,750 rpm.
