  • Not happy - car sideswiped and mirror smashed

    Hey guys

Parked in the city and some dog smashed down the side of my car and trashed the drivers side mirror on my Black '06 GTI.

But the worst insult came when the $750 price from Volkswagen came back for a replacement! Holy hell!

Tempted to get a pair of the carbon fibre jobs they sell out of BFI, anybody had any experience with these, or are there any other options?

    Thanks,

Sorry to hear Mixer. As for purchasing stuff off BFI, they don't ship internationally yet
    Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
    Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

Bugger! I am used to getting shafted on spare parts but $750 for a mirror is just out of hand.

Mate - that sucks. One morning about 3 years ago, I walked out to my last car to find it was keyed the whole length (and deep too). I know it doesn't help your cause but know how you must be feeling and am feelin for you. That sucks!

Hope you get it sorted mate.

That really sucks man. $750? Christ, they certainly don't miss you. Is it just the mirror, or when swapping, do they have to replace the entire motor/assembly for the window/mirror?

Its a complete assembly - all car manufacturers do this. I think half the cost or more is paint and labour. I have asked a friend in a panel shop to quote on it for me.

VW have come back with the special price of "only" $625, because its the dealership where I bought the car.

I had a bit of a peek and couldn't find anyone who claimed to be a VW or Golf specialist but if there was I'd make the trek to check it out.
