Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • DSG thud

Does anyone else who has a GTI DSG get a thud when changing gears somtimes in normal drive mode? It never happens in manual or S mode and normally when driving quite easy - not hard.

its giving me the serious ****s - ive done 13,000ks.

Yes; usually at very gentle and low speeds almost like it changes into a gear that is too tall. It thuds and then realises and goes for a lower gear.

It hasn't been a regular thing though. I've done approx 18000km.

my cars done 16500km and yes it's happened to me, esp when the engine is cold. Saying this it's only happened a handful of times. Other thing i noticed is that it happens when the car is being driven normally, never when hard.

if this kind of problem happens everyday of course you should let VW to handle it. but for me i always have a rattle on my driver side door, always have a rattle on the sunroof when its in a tilt position, rain sensor always dodgy, i hardly give a damn to them, realise the more you let stealers to touch and fix your car, the more they going to damage it, always fixed one problem, and created another one by them, so i'd rather live with these stupid minor problems ...
