Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

the were made from stainless steel but I am told that they only plastic now.

The bottle openers are still steel, they are just clad with a hardened plastic to stiffen them up. Apparently the old ones used to flex a fair bit. I can't comment on the previous ones but the new ones are great.

        Pacific badge

        Les,
I ordered the Pacific on 30 March. There was one Pacific (no badge) and one Edition (with badge) at the dealership that day. The Pacific was not a Comfortline as it had all the extras included the new package.

I checked the shipping details using the VIN and the car was discharged from Port Kembla on 19 March, arriving (so the dealer tells me) at the dealership this Monday 14 April.

It's a bit radical not to accept delivery of the vehicle due to a missing badge, but I do smell something fishy, and as this is the first vehicle I've ever bought "new", I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing.

Anyhow, I'll front up at the dealership on Friday and play it by ear

Just had an interesting experience. The wife and I were picked up by a friend in her nice new Pacific. Got in and noticed as soon as it was started that it was a TDI. When we got out and noticed the badge on the rear hatch was a TSI badge. Car was delivered this way and dealer has promised to fit a new badge.

I think it extraordinary that VW are unable to get badging correct, how difficult can it be?

            Cheers

When locking the car it doesn't beep or sound horn to let you know all is ok,
is this the normal or can I turn on a beep.
              thanks
              les
Yeah can turn a horn beep on and off, as well has the indicator flash on and off, but you will need to find someone with a VAG-COM cable + software.

I would help you but I am sure you don't wanna drive to Sydney for it

Surely someone locally has one. 6 packs of beer alwasy seem to be a good payment for the service
