Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Roof lining sagging and interior lights not working.

    hey all.

has anyone has any issues with their roof lining in their mk5? mine has started to sag in my gti. Also, my interior lights do not work when they are set to auto and i open my doors. Does anyone have any idea what that could be? want to get it fixed cause i can't see in the dark lol.

    Cheers

Mines starting to sag at the front where the sun shades are and around the middle where the light is. Can't believe it as the car has been garaged pretty much it's whole life and they aren't very old.

Yes, this is a common issue with the MK5, roof line sagging. I'm having mine repaired today, quoted $500.00 for it as it's apparently labour instensive, car is MK5 R32

I had my mk5 hood lining replaced under warranty and the invoice was for around $1500. It was actually a large job as the lining is moulded.

Also this is a known issue typically starting around the rear vision mirror.

Yes, this where mine started. Got mine back yesterday, after repairs, looks mint and new so I'm happy to pay $500.00.
There are some DIY floating around but I'm not that handy unfortunately.
