  • Window Tinting On Mk5 Golf GTI

Does anybody know what the VLT % and UV protection rating is on the standard tinted glass on the latest Golf GTI? Also, does it stop any infrared light? I can't find it in any of the paperwork.

Does anyone know of a good window tinter in the Brisbane area (including Gold Coast)? I'm looking at using Ultratint (http://www.ultratint.com.au/index.htm). They're in the GC and seem to have the best products and film quality.

    Thanks

Yes, technically you have to use 38% tint to stay legal - if you're worried by that kind of thing.

Thanks for that, it's strange it doesn't say it anywhere. According to the WFAANZ website the lowest legal tint is 35% VLT, Australia wide (except for SA front windows). The only thing that changes is th reflection limits.

Yes it is 35% for all states, so with the 3% already on the dub at the factory you're looking at 38% tint to stay legal - if you really care - personally I don't and have 30%.

It depends a lot on the colour of the car, 30% on my white car looks similar to 20% on a black car.

I used Master Tint in Parkwood on the Gold Coast, also got paint protection.
They did a good job and the price was reasonable, can't remember how much as it was some months ago.

The 20% is the go, 35% barely looks like its been tinted. Any lower than 20% and I wouldn't want to be driving it at night though.

Nice one, thanks for that. I'll look into it. They also do a windscreen treatment with nano-technology, a bit like Rain-X. Apparently its really good and they said they'd throw it in for free with a full car tint.
