      Petrol.

Also just wondering what a sports exhaust would sound like on a 1.4, would it be deep sounding?

I have one of these and there are a few things you can do. A bunch of ECU tuners do Stage 1 upgrades for them. APR and Bluefin are definitely 2 options.

Forge Motorsport make an upgraded intercooler and Cold Air Intake (as do K&N and APR). You can also buy a better quality K&N air filter that fits in the standard CAI if you don't want to take it apart.

I think VW Racing make a quick shifter for the gearshift (if you have the manual, rather than DSG) or you can get a DSG tune.

Most stock GTI parts will fit the car as well so coil overs, sway bars etc are all possible. GTI and (some) R32 trim parts are bolt-on (although cosmetic not performance).

I quite like the stock twin pipe exhaust but I'm sure people do alternatives as well.

Yeah, I'd forgotten about them. I looked at the tuner options a few months ago and I think Bluefin looked like the best bang-for-buck option out there. The 1.4 twin charged is a tricker, and less common, beast than the 2.0l in the GTI.

              Thanks for all the responses!

Any recommendations in Sydney where I can do the ECU upgrades?

Seb at Euromotive(??) Giraween is probably closest, or maybe VolksMuller at Annangrove (Sorry, despite having relatives in blacktown I've never been able to get my head around the geography/distances of that area).

There are some tuners not in Sydney that will send you a plug-in device or laptop to carry out the tune yourself. Or you can send your ECU to them for the upgrade.

DNA & CustomCode spring to mind but I'm sure there are others. Do your homework because it starts getting expensive to change tunes - it's not like buying an intake where if you don't like it, you can flog it off on a forum for a small loss.

                      Thanks Brad!

You wouldn't happen to have an address or phone number for Euromotive as I can't seem to find them online.

I've also found a place in Seven Hills called BWA Auto who do APR stuff. Has anyone have any experiences with these guys?

Mate, stand on your own two feet a bit & use search.

I just googled "vw specialist girraween" and the 2nd hit links back to a VWwc thread that has all the answers.

We're doing the full tunes on 1.4s now too and of course we also supply the bluefins.
