  • Black Euro plate rant

Well, went to pick up my new black euro plates today, awesome looking and have R32 as part of the plate .

Got the rock star park out the front of the RTA, unscrewed the plates that came with the car, walked in at lunch, waited all of two minutes and was served. Living right! Then, I get the plates and I find out they have no freaking holes. Jesus Christ. I live in a rented apartment, I don't have power tools handy. Drove over to the old mans place, and got the plates on. What a pain in the arse if you don't have access to that! You only get one days exemption to get the plates fitted.

Ahhh, but how would you have felt if they did come with holes and the holes were in the wrong spots, thus spoiling your specially ordered flash new plates (or causing you to drill extra holes in your lovely car) ?

Nah, not worried about drilling new holes in the number plate mount point. In fact, I didn't like the spots from the old plates on the back and will be drilling new ones on the weekend. Still, 2 x 2 options would not have killed em since I couldn't mount them at all!

they used to come with holes, either double holes or single.

but probably it cost 0.05c to drill and saving 5c is more important for our generous government!!! LOL

this is my point though - because I wasn't informed and it was a work day, I had to find a holder that day. The local repco only had a protector (which I ended up buying) that mounts over the plates - you still need to mount via the plates. I didn't have time to ring around to find another place because I had to get the plates on today (you only have a one day exemption) plus I was supposed to be working.

If they told me when I ordered a few weeks ago online, I would have got it sorted. All previous plates I had purchased had holes. Why would I assume any different?

you can mount them with double sided tape. not just any old sticky tape but some really tough stuff.

I hear your pain - I had the same problem...I ended up just using a screw driver and abit of elbow grease to get the screws through (off the car of course)...but the best was when I turned up at the RTA the first time, I asked them all the details about the plates and made sure they had some in stock bla bla bla, before I took my old ones off...and then when I went outside and took the old ones off and brought them inside, they then told me because the dealer ship had not yet properly lodged the rego details they couldn't swap the plates!!!!! so back on go the old ones, and I have to wait in line again another day! God love the RTA

Some people complain about the most insignificant things.

24 hours to solve the problem is not enough????

Any pics of the plates on the car mate?
