Yep, I've done it. Mine is just the normal one though, it doesn't have the "venting spacer" on it.

It's easy enough to install yourself, provided you know how to work an allen key. I've have no dramas and it's been on for about 8000km now.

On are IV gti, weve just got the turbosmart dual port bov. Cost $280aus. Takes 5mins too put on, fits straight in place of the original bosch unit. vents too atmosphere. and plumbs back. Is adjustable. And has a plug too turn it into a plumb back only. Very happy.

        my two cents.

          vents to atmosphere
After your car has gone to all the trouble to build up that boost, why would you want to vent it to atmosphere? Such a waste of energy.

I've fitted one to my Pogo ... but the correct way (NOT venting to the atmos). The Forge or APR ones are forged billet aluminium - not plastic and I did it for added reliability rather than to listen to any PSSSSSST! sound on gear change ... but then ... I'm an 'Old Fart'.

mine is the 2l fsi turbo so no plastic bosch one it is electronicallt controlled. the forge one mounts where to electric solenoid is then the solenoid mounts on top im just wondering if anyone has used it. forge say it is fully compatible with the management system

Yep they are a good bit of kit especially if you have the thing chipped. The standard one has trouble holding the extra boost when chipped and you can get what some call BOV flutter. They also work from the vacuum line and are fully compatible and wont give you any problems when fitted correctly. Mine has been on for around 10,000 Ks with no issues. Forget about the bit that blows off to the atmosphere though. Toooo riceyyy for me.

You dont actually need to have the dv just the spacer from forge to get the release to atmo. You can get it from Parts4euro.com for like $70. Just fit it between the oem dv and the turbo.
I just bought the forge dv but havent fitted it yet as i need to get a pair of ramps 1st to get under the car.
I got the dv with free shipping for $247.00AUD, came within one working week from Hong Kong, awesome service i have to say.The guys in the states are very quick to respond to anything i had to ask.
My Revo stg.1 hasnt broken the oem dv yet so i'm a bit lazy to rush into fitting the new one.
