  • Engine Cover?

Hi folks, how easy is it to remove the centre (silver) part on the engine cover?
I am a bit ham-fisted and would hate to break anything.
I could not find anything on Youtube.
    Opinions please

Thanks, just pulled the cover to see why its rattling after the 105 k service.
Two things are immediately apparent, there is a broken clip, and the foam padding that sits between the cover and the motor is completely shredded. I guess that is why the cover's broken. Dealer doesnt sell just the foam pad.
Is this common, and if so what is the fix, if any?
      Cheers,

The noise insulation is very common to deteriorate over the years. The grommets for the engine cover also do tend to fail after a while. Grommets are not that expensive and are easily fitted. If its the holder for the grommet that has seperated, short of buying a new cover you can always plasti weld it as it will not be cisible when installed so should still look good and save some dollars

          Thanks piper26, good to know.
So what is the fix for the insulation? DO you go without, or can it be bought separately?
Or do you go to Clarke rubber and ask for some heat proof foam?

To go with or without is personal preference.

I personally dont see a big enough drop in engine noise to justify the money. In saying that though i dont mind hearing a bit of engine noise
