Hey guys I recently fitted an intake to my mk5 gti and it now the spool and bov is extremley loud, its like its amplified in the cabin. Is there some sort of noise pipe on the adm models? I also have a wrx with a td06 and no air filter and the gti spool is alot louder

Just wondering if as an experiment you could fit something around the filter. This won't sound right but I know what is in my headIf you had a suitable coffee tin cut so it would sit over the filter and be sealed to at the bottom. Probably with say at least an inch clearance from the filter at all points.
I wonder if that would quieten it down. I know it's a bit of work but as an experiment, I wouldn't spend too long on it. If it cuts the noise then I'd look at making something more permanent and aesthetic.
I think open filters tend to allow the sound to bounce around in the enclosure too much.

More thinking out loud. You could also try some sound deadening material on the shielding. Like the wadding they use in speaker boxes or dynamat. Again for experimental purposes before a permanent fix.Last edited by h100vw; 06-04-2014, 12:13 PM.
