  • Jetta 2.0 TSI Loud Whining Noise when hot

    Hi guys,

I've had my new Jetta 24 hours, and already it has a problem. When hot, the engine has a high pitched whining sound coming from under the bonnet, on the drivers side. It's loud enough to hear in the cabin, and is very loud outside the car. It doesn't change by RPM, and only does it when NOT under load. I press in the accelerator, it stops.

What could it it be, and have any other TFSI owners had the same problem?

    Thanks.

Sounds like the PCV has failed. Pretty common.

Does it continue to hiss or whine after you shut the engine off?

Not really, but I park in a driveway, and walk away from the car, so don't really notice. Is the car right to drive?

Hard to say from here. Internet diagnosis is usually just speculation at best. I can only go on how you've described it.

As always, get it seen to as soon as you can.

Thanks again mate. It's under dealer statutory warranty, so it's going in tomorrow morning. I'll see what they have to say tomorrow.

Got it in one mate. PCV.

Thanks again for your help. I can't wait to hand the POS 325i I'm using as a courtesy car back.
