Spend the extra $30/tyre. Kumhos are OK but always seem to disapoint when worn beyond 50%.
Worked in the tyre industry for years - still can't work out why the wife's car always got cheap tyres even though she was ferrying around the kids, driving in dangerous places like school zones & shopping centre car parks, peak hour traffic, etc

I stuck some Michelin Primacy 3's on the Jetta after getting 85,500 kms on the Primacy HP's. I certainly noticed how quiet the new tyres were and the handling is great. I was impressed with the last set (my first ever set of Michelin's) and am glad I continued with this brand. Plus it was only $820 for the four corners, so I was well pleased!

My two cents. I wouldn't put Kuhmo 31's on. I have regretted it since day one. The grip is fine, but the road noise is just plain rediculous! I am considering getting rid of them even though they have plenty of tread on them. It makes the driving experience just that little bit sadder! Even my mechanic said that i shouldn't have put directional tyres on it and go with some uni directionals. I am considering michelin pilot sports or continentals as my next tyre.

In the end I went for the Michelin Pilot Sport 3. $185 per corner F&B and I stand to get a $100 fuel voucher!
First impressions are that they are a quieter tyre than the C2's, not that the C2's were overly noisy.
So my next question is whether I should get an alignment? I was asked when fitting the tyres however i felt uneasy, i would rather get it done by VW. The front pulls neither left nor right, just goes dead straight.
To those who have put a new set of tyres on, did you get an alignment done also?

Thanks,
wow that's a decent price.
I paid $285 per corner for the same tyres here in Perth last year.
does lose a bit of grip over time, but plenty more than the previous tyres

Wow, great deal. I just had to replace one nailed 205/55 16" on my Mk7, had no chance to shop around and got stung $253.50 - Michelin Pilot Sport 3 $227, fitting $3, balance $7, valve $2.50, recycling $5, road hazard warranty $9 - what the hell is that anyway? I notice the invoice says Passenger thrust alignment - declined !!! I don't even remember being asked so as I could do the declining lol (And my passenger said she was quite happy with her thrust alignment arrangement anyhow haha )
