Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • RNS 510 - Premium BLuetooth

I've read all i can in the forums and phoned VAG but i'm still confused, can somebody help -

    1. Can premium Bluetooth be fitted at dealer?
    2. If so how much (I’m guessing $1500 - $2000?)
    3. Is it officially available in OZ yet?
    4. What's involved with the installation?
GTI, Black, 3 door, Manual, Sunroof, Anthracite Leather, RNS510, Premium Bluetooth

    Hi Gordon

    This may help . . .

    1. I presume so as I picked my R32 up last week with RNS510 but without the Premium Bluetooth which the dealer says they will retrofit when it arrives.

    2. As part of my car purchase price it was $901.81 plus GST

    3. Dealer says he hopes it will arrive this week.

    4. No idea really but service department wants the car all day when it arrives

Hope this was of some use

    Cheers

      Thanks Steve.

I would pay $1000, so i'll speak to dealer this week again armed with a bit more information. The problem i'm having is the dealer i've used has no experience with RNS 510 - my car is the first they have ever seen.

Keep me posted on delivery/install if you don't mind (PM or forum)

What are the advantages of premium Bluetooth over the regular Bluetooth?

I've read a bit, but nothing properly detailed.

Hi , I am a new member. I am waiting to pick up my GTI this Wednesday with RNS 510. I have ordered Bluetooth but the dealer tells me it is not the premium bluetooth that goes with teh RNS 510. He said it will not be available in Australia. I ahve also called VW who also told me tha it will not be available in Australia.

This is little confusing. What are your thoughts

Well I have bluetooth on the Passat and it is the Parrot Edition. The dealer told me the one I am getting on the EOS will be the new edition so that when someone calls me I will see who is calling me on the MFD, name and number and some other new features that the RNS 510 will use. Supposed to be more advanced than the Parrot bluetooth system.

Now i see i'm not alone with the confusion.

I find it amazing (and frustrating) that VW don't know how to sell their own product.

I spoke to VW today and was told that it is not yet available in Australia. He was not sure if and when it would be available. Do you know if there is a part number.?
