  • Wheel Nut/Lock Nut Key

    Hi Guys,

I just picked up my mk5 r32 yesterday and realised that they lock nut key i have in the boot seems too big. I did confirm with the dealer and he says its in the boot so i checked and its there but didnt take it out and see if it fits.

The wheel nut on my car looks like this. Can someone upload a picture of the correct lock nut key so i can let the dealer know and hopefully have one replaced.

    Cheers.

There's a hook in there that you use to get those plastic bolt covers off. Behind one of those is the lock bolt.

It's in the manual. Shows you precisely what to do.

No major drama. You could probably fashion something up out of a coat hanger if you have to.

                  Only works on some Audis.

The one I posted is the correct one.

I reckon my piece of bent coat hanger wire would be better. I've calibrated the length & I've got a Peter Brock Energy Polariser at home, so I aligned the chakras in the the wire. I've never removed wheel nut caps so quickly as with my bent coat hanger wire. ;-p

Thanks guys. I'll try the coat hangers and see how that goes. Shouldnt be a problem. Shouldnt be that tight to pull the plastic bolt out right?

Nope. It's only a cover for the wheel bolt.

I could understand if people were saying "Park in a dark area of >insert dubious suburb here< and your wheels will be off in no time" but trying out a slightly bent piece od wire on a plastic wheel cap? Can't believe how risk averse this world is becoming.
