Tips on mirror repair/replacement

Hi Guys

Just looking for a quick bit of advice on replacing a passenger mirror on an MY08 Silver Jetta(i've searched posts but cant find anything specific).

Had an incident with the old man on Saturday when a Kayak got dropped clean on top of the mirror and snapped the aluminum/metal pivot so it no longer holds on(all else is fine).

Was curious as to whether purchasing somelike like this is Volkswagen Jetta V TDI Exterior Mirrors ES#240988 Mirror Assembly - Left - 1K1857507B then replacing the plastic cover(dealer said they interchange but can be a painfull job).

I didnt speak to myself but the dealer also mentioned that the mirrors are year specific and can only be matched of Vin number.

There may be some variations in mirrors, but to ensure the correct parts, it's always best to supply them with a VIN.

The mirror is held on with 3 bolts on the inside of the door. You may need to remove the inner door trim to unclip the wiring for the heating element and tilt motor.
