  • 19"denvers/huffs and rear skirt question

    guys
A couple of enquiries. I've seen on the golfmkv forum from the guys in the states 19" factory lookalike wheels. I am wondering if anyone here has these rims and if so where did they purchase them from? is there a place in the states you can import these wheels from. I know there was a link on this forum for a local person on ebay selling 18" versions but they were quite pricey. Another thing is there a difference b/w huffs and denver wheels? Im a little confused there.

Question also on the rear factory skirt. Does the very bottom section where your exhast pipes come out of come off. If so does anyone sell something that fits in there but has both sides cut for a 4 pipe exhaust? Reason I'm asking is I would consider a 4 pipe muffler but would need to get another rear skirt i think. I dont want any aftermarket eccentric kit and like to keep the car looking like a gti. Can you get something that has the cutout on both sides for such a muffler? Ive heard of people cutting the original but i wouldnt do that. Any suggestions appreciated.
    cheers.

the whole rear lower valance comes off. the bit they leave black. A couple of companies do replacements. ABT and Rieger are probly the nicest. Im getting a rieger one soon.

Huffs and Denvers are the same style which look different due to different finishes. The Denvers standard as 17 inch wheels on the GTI in Aus. The Huffs have a machined finish, and in addition have darker accents within the circular cut-out section of the wheel which gives the contours a sharper look.

Here's some photos for comparison. The first are Denvers and the second Huffs.

The huffs do look better and thx for letting me know the difference. Anyone in Melbourne have 18 or 19" replicas or shipped these wheels from abroad? I wouldn't mind seeing how they look on the car.

I've got a set of genuine vw 18 inch Huffs ready to go on as soon as my car arrives. My mate shipped them over to me when he went to Hong Kong. Apparently they're the stock wheel on the GTI over there so you can find brand new sets as people replace them with aftermarket wheels. It worked out to be less than $1500 for completely unmarked wheels and with air freight. Would be cheaper than that with sea mail.
The wheels were advertised on the internet but i'm not sure about the address of the site.

Will post pics once i have my car with the wheels installed...

Anyone on this forum know of anyone with 19" huffs? Preferably Melbourne location. I remember a while back I had seen someone post pics of their gti with 19" black version in Melbourne. I cant seem to find that thread for the life of me. I would be interested to speak to whoever does own these wheels in the 19" format as to ride comfort, lowering and tyre size. I can get 19" huff wheels shipped from the states for around 1250US dollars - no tyres though. I did check out what tempetyres had. Not a bad deal which includes tyres. I have a relo though that owns a tyre joint so I am not worries about tyres. If anyone can assist that would be great.
