Audi S6 LED install for Volkswagen MkV R32 | Derek Punsalan – 5THIRTYONE
Hope this helps! Great write up of how to remove the front bumper and grille. I've had experience in removing the front grille and lower grilles on the left and right.
Start underneath the front of the vehicle and locate the two screws in directly underneath the middle of the bumper. Follow that with three screws on the underside (left & right). Then, remove three screws from the front edges of the wheel wells. The final two screws are at the top of the bumper piece behind where the aluminum grill used to be. With a second set of hands, the bumper will now slide straight off. Before excitedly removing the bumper completely, unclip and unscrew the headlight washers from the bumper. You'll notice that a single hose feeds both washers [which is also secured in place with metal clips.Last edited by robbie; 31-12-2013, 12:56 AM.

If it's like the Golf/GTI it's really easy, there are about 18 torx head screws and the whole bumper slides forward and off.
There are from memory around 4 of those screws around the front of the wheel arches, another 5 or six under the car along the rear edge of the lip, then open your bonnet and remove the two screws holding the upper grille in place, once that's removed probably another 2-4 screws holding the bumper to the radiator support and that's it, just slice the whole bumper forward.
Looking at you photo's it looks like the sides of the bumper aren't slotted into the grooves/channels properly, nothing serious. also take note of where the bumper fits beneath the headlights when sliding back into place.
I'm guessing the bumper has had to be removed recently for whatever reason (repair/repaint).
You can do it by yourself but it's easier with two people.
Do a google for a video, I'm sure there'll be a tutorial somewhere (maybe ECS).

If you do it, have something like some towels to sit it on when removed to avoid scratches. Measure the gap difference that needs to be corrected each side as it will help to relocate the keyway on the sides. With the R32, the lower grills need removing first, then the main grill, Lever out the headlight washers with some plastic trim removal tools to remove the covers. It doesn't take too long to remove and replace. You will need the car raised on ramps or a hoist to access the screws from underneath.08 MY09 R32, DBP, DSG, GIAC, R8V10 reps, KW V3, RNS510/VIM/BT/MDI, region free DVD, switched Haldex, s2t paddles,HPA dogbone rubber,Mk7 climatronics, FIS+, Adams/RDA discs & Hawk pads, Garage button, GruppeM. Hey sheckster,
If you are going to get the A/C done (as per your pm to me this morning) the bumper has to come off to access the compressor. You could just leave it until you have the work done and the shop will sort it out when they put the car back together again.MY08 Mk5 GT Sport - sold
MY14 Tiguan 118TSI - sold (Mazda3 SP25GT in its place)
MY16 Golf 7R: sold (Caterham Super 7 and Hyundai i30N in its place)

Just to close this thread.
I've successfully removed and re-attached the front bumper, which is a small victory for me as I've never done anything like that before.
A few points to consider if you're doing the same.
1. Give yourself enough time (certainly not on a Sunday evening if you've got work on Monday morning)
2. A second pair of hands would come in handy, I did it just by myself and it took longer than it needed to be
3. There are heaps of screws, keep them in separate groups, labelling each group would really help come re-attaching time.
4. Raise the car if you can, I didn't so I had to really un-screw and screw by touch and feel.
I now have bumpers that are aligned, although I could have just left it as is, it was bugging the heck out of me.
Now I might consider LED DRL next
