Sorry guys,
Just gotta have a rant at what some lunatic engineer/designer thought was a good idea with the Jetta. We have a top of the line turbo Jetta and we leave the headlights in auto mode. When the car is driven into our garage and it becomes dark the headlights turn on. Now normally we pull the key out of the ignition and hide it but my wife yesterday afternoon didn't pull the key out, just turned the car off. Consequently, we head into the garage this morning so that she can drive me to work and I see that the parkers and all the dash lights are still on. Therefore, flat battery. Well, not enough to start it anyway!! What the problem is, is that unless you pull the key out of the ignition so that you here a click, the bloody parkers will stay on for as long as the battery will supply power. WHAT A STUPID IDEA VW!!!! Why would they not turn off after a certain time in this situation. Even my 13 year AUSTRALIA falcon has a feature that if a light was accidently left on, it turns it off after 30 minutes so that you don't flatten the battery.
So, moral of the story for those that have bothered to read my vent session, please remember to pull the key out of the ignition and then reinsert it if you wish to leave the keys in the ignition.
Sheesh, that has annoyed me this morning. Just as well it was me with my wife otherwise she would've blown off because she has an important event that she has to get to at lunch and wouldn't have made it because she would've expected the car to start first go. At least we have a chance of getting RACQ out to jump start it!
