  • Golf for the family

Hi all. I'm a 2.0TDI owner for a total of 3 weeks now. Have to say I love the way it wants to pull in 2nd and 3rd gear, and wants to keep pulling! I'm so envious of those Germans with their Autobarns. I've had 1 refill at 750km with 80 until empty, including a fair amount of spirited driving when I can (as much as I can on the Monash!). Can't wait for the trip to Mildura in a month or so to see how far it can really go.

Ok, onto the question. We have a family on the way (having upgraded to the VW from a 30 year old Mercedes mainly for safety reasons) and was wondering on peoples experienes with car seats and prams in the Golf. Any suggestions / recommendations.

    Any comments welcome.

Ive had my Golf from when my son was about 8 months old through to now(almost 3 years) so have had both rear and front facing seats fitted with no problems at all, is stacks of room (probably more than you realise when you start comparing to other cars) and is great for a family. Prams fit in boot etc and of course safety Much happier driving my son around in a Golf than some other less safe thing.

      Hi TDIRules,

Welcome to your brilliant MkV and your new family

The 5 door MkV is a great early family car. For previously asked questions about baby seats, see http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...ad.php?t=11225

Our bub is now almost 2yo, and the MkV got the honour of taking her for her first drive home from the hospital - what a crazy experiance that was.

Congrats on your new beastie, and the diesel golf

Ahh yes, forgot the golden rule...search first. Thanks for the replys though. I've been handed the task of purchasing all transport for the family. MkV first, pram second. I think the decision on the Golf will be a much easier one than the pram though. Until you start looking you don' realise how many types there are and how much the prices vary.

Just dont get a Jeep pram...i fell for it haha

if VW made a pram that would be so sweet...would be sturdy as hell and get the bubs started early on the correct mode of transport
