  • How to access vehicle menu?

    Hi

I have got a 2008 Golf comfortline and I am trying to access the vehicle's menu to set features like automatic locking after take off, coming home function, etc. I have got the steering wheel controls which according to the manual are the ones used to access the menu.

In frustration I brought the vehicle to Austral and they told me I would only be able to access the programming menu if I purchased the Sat Nav unit. I find this hard to believe as it is not mentioned in the car's manual at all - all info refers to the normal display.

I also rang VW Australia and the bright person I spoke to said he didn't know how to do it and referred me back to the dealer.

I can't believe that the people who sell these cars have no idea how to operate them. All I am after is a simple answer and no one can give it to me.

Anyway, has anyone out there managed to get into the menu or is the existence of the fabled "menu" just false advertising?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hans

if u read the manual it says you need to have the high line display on the car.

does your golf have the big display on the dash or just the half height one?

Hay Hans, congrats on the new Golf.

I can take a look at it for you. Just posted up late notice GTG for a Sunday morning cruise up Nebo. Was going to meet at Emporium in the morning, come for a coffee.

      Cheers,

sorry for being the bringer of bad news but you cant do it with your car unless you have the full sized dash display (not the half height one). anywya if yo uhave an 08comfortline with no sat nav then you wont have this display and wont be able to adjust the settings, you'll need someone with a vagcom or the dealer to do it for you (if you attend a cruise there's bound to be someone with a vagcom there). the only cars with this big display are the new gt's gti's r32's and any other golf with factory satnav.

Thanks for the info. Your answer makes sense - doesn't make me happy - but at least it makes sense. I guess I will have to make it along to one of the cruises and see if anyone has one of those vagcom's (never seen one so am very interested).
          Thanks again.
