Well this thread was about taking the MkV for a test drive, Balkanac's thoughts on it as well and his thoughts on the differences between it and his car. Hence why it's in the MkV thread.

I don't see anyone saying that the MkV is a bad, horrible or awful car. I do notice that you asked why we bought such a POS though (with a smiley face).

The review I posted states that the MkV is the better handling car. By the way if you actually looked at the review and read my quote you'd see that the MkV is faster around the Hockenheim short circuit just. Most other reviews I've seen seen say the MkV is faster, but I thought it was interesting to see one that says otherwise. But every review I have seen has stated that it is a much softer civilised easy to live with day to day car than the MkIV. From your first post you don't actually disagree with this. Note that I'm also the only member who has made reference to this review so don't bring the others into it please.

Since the MkIV it is clear the VW has decided to change what type of car a R car is. Maybe this is because the "hardcore" "uncompromised" MkIV couldn't beat an STI or Evo and they did fail in a way from what they originally set out to do. So obviously they decided to tone it back and refocus for the MkVs and subsequent R cars. Who knows.

What I will say though is that we should all be thankful VW did decide to finally make a "hardcore" MkIV Golf. Without the people involved in that one and the success that it did prove sales wise, I'd say that the new crop of performance oriented VWs that everyone here actually likes wouldn't be anywhere near as good as they actually are.

What I find extremely offensive though is that while MkIV drivers have said what they don't like about the MkV, you have seen it appropriate to bag and insult the MkIV drivers directly. No one else has done this. Maybe originally it was meant to be jokes but I don't think anyone is finding it funny.

I tried to bring closure to this thread as has Hitman and other members...
                Sigh...

I've been following this thread and find it disappointing to say the least, here is an excerpt from a post I made last week:-

Yeah I was actually thinking about that thread and your post about ten minutes ago. It's a pretty poor example of a thread really. I feel bad now.
