Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I think it's also subjective as to "how fast is fast enough" with the wipers. Me, I'm happy to drive with the screen quite rained on. My wife, however, wants it perfectly free of any rain drops. So we constantly fiddle with the setting.
I think it's erratic, but I can live with it. My mother in law just got a MkV Golf (to replace her MkIV) and is struggling a little with the concept ...07 Jetta TFSI | 18" Charlestons | Blue Graphite

Having driven in a lot of rain last weekend i was quite impressed with the sensors actually. i did have to change the setting a bit. if it was real light drizzle i put it on the first setting as at 2-3-4 it was wiping too much for my liking. as it got heavier i moved it up to the 2nd one. 3 and 4 weren't needed much at all. Definitely better than any other car ive driven with themcurrrently... MY10 GTI | DSG | Candy White | Sunroof | 18's | BT | MDI

Drove the car in some rain for the first time last week, the auto wipers were manageable with a bit of fiddling with the sensitivity but still a little erratic at times.
Having used to the auto-wipers on an X5 though the VW's just don't compare. The X5 doesn't let you adjust sensitivity but I've found its timing is just about perfect and only in very light rain will I find myself having to use the wipers manually.
Having to fiddle with the sensitivy kind of defeats the purpose of having auto-wipers but it's not bothering me too much, besides, it doesn't rain much these days anyway.

I must say that I love my rain sensing wipers on the Jetta, and have had no complaints at all.
In fact little touches like thers, and the automatic headlights were things that made me fall in love with these cars on my initial test drive.

The rain sensors are gay. Mine on my car must be on some mean drugs, i mean that we were driving yesterday down the gold coast, and what was a perfect clear day, not passing through shade, bridges anything, but maybe a fly did a pi*s and off the go the wipers, and when it was thumping down last week, pulled out off the garage do you think they started working..... nupsigpic

All in all, I find them very good.

Finally got to test the sensors, they seem to be fine. They also start to work above the magic 15km/h mark.
My only gripe with them is when i went to turn on the headlights manually (The automatic on headlights didn't want to turn themselves on) is the wipers decided they needed to go on full ball!
But apart from that can't see anything wrong with them.sigpic
