Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Rubber line from Break Booster

    Hi,

Was wondering if anyone knew where I could pick up the Rubbery/Plastic line that goes from the Break Booster along the fire wall into what looks like a Sensor. I have notice the ends have become split, and Austral want $290 for it!

I'm sure there is an aftermarket piece of a cheaper supplier somewhere on the net.

    Anyone know of any?
    Thanks

That's a tough one - take it from me - don't mess with trying to repair or substitute that line with something else - its critical for your brakes to function (take my word on it - I had one fail on the track).

If you have the part number from VW - shop around. It is RHD specific, so US ones wont work. It also includes a check valve.

I don't have the partnumber as I can never find a working version of ETKA.
But see the attached pictures above. It is split at the booster and split neat the .. Valve?

is it a molded / shaped line? Can you substitute universal vacuum hose?

If someone can give you the partno it might be on Ebay from the UK.

If you are searching it might help to search for "brake" rather than "break". nb: If you don't use your brakes, your car will break

                I Can see them now.

I'd attempt to replace with generic vacuum line & a couple of hose clamps if the OEM part isn't available elsewhere.

As i said, get the p/no & plug it into ebay or google or try Imparts or one of the UK suppliers.

Thanks Brad, I did see them, although They do look a little different, They have this metal looking wrap around it .. Where mine doesnt.
maybe its a newer version of the piece?

Metal wrap would be heat protection wouldn't it?

I have no idea what a MKV brake booster vacuum line looks like.

Get somebody to look up ETKA (ring up a dealership, give them your VIN & ask for price & availability of the part. Tell them you'll think about it & ask for the partno so that when you ring back you can quote it & avoid them having to check again )

                      Have you tried 1300Imparts
