  • R32 - Vibrating metal sound under hard acceleration

Got my R32 last Wednesday and I've noticed a vibrating metal sound under hard acceleration which seems to be coming from the rear of the car.

In between the exhaust pipes there seems to be a piece of heat shield that's secured around the edges but there's a lip hanging down that's not secured. Not sure if this is it or not. Has anyone else noticed the vibration? Is anyone else's "flappy bit" secured?

I apologise for the poor picture attachment. It's taken from underneath and facing the rear of the car.

Apparently my car is arriving this week (crosses fingers, touches wood), will let you know if I have the same problem. Looks like some sort of hose behind the flapper or something.

Not wanting to hijack your thread but aside from this, how has the car been? How did you end up deciding to run her in? Sounds like you are not keeping her below 4 grand

The blue bit in the picture under neath the flappy bit is the part of the diffuser in the centre at the rear.

Car has been awesome. Launch control is something else. Runing her in, I've loosely followed some of the break in sites. I've not going easy but I'm not redlining it every gear change either.

        Great to hear.

I suspect I will do something similar.

If I may make a suggestion... you have had the car just shy of a week, perhaps you should allow the car sometime to settle in. Just keep in mind everything in and on the car is new and not used to working or sitting where it is, after a few thousand km's the car should settle down, sort of like a new pair of shoes they feel a little stiff and uncomfortable to begin with then after a few weeks they feel really good because they have worn in abit and you've gotten used to them. Just my opinion.. take it or leave it

              this might help...

Hi , My R32 is finally due to get here just after Chrissy and trying to find out if you are still able to do a flapper valve mod on a mark V's exhaust and if so is it the same deal as doing it on the Mk IVs?
