  • Any trouble selling your MKV GTI..??

    Hey guys,

Has anyone here had any trouble selling their MKV GTI...?? It has been 3 months now and I still havent sold mine.

Its in great nic, priced very well and only getting a bite every 2-4 weeks...

Its killing me because its just sitting there taking up space and I am hanging for someone to start enjoying the best car ive ever had...

Market seems a little slow, yes. So far haven't had anything more than nibbles at the ankles...
Mine is DSG, but has been faultless...

If it's still sitting there then you're asking too much. There's just too much choice unfortunately, so buyers can afford to pick, choose and offer whatever they want.

A year ago I bought a perfect XR5 Turbo for $7k less than the cheapest OK mk5 for sale in Brisbane.

There's a mistake in your post Tim. Perfect and XR5 are not the same thing...
So people keep telling me, but the market isn't flooded, but it seems that VW have done a good job of screwing all the existing owners over. Again...
You had a Clio, a pug and a CL before didn't you?

Lol! Yeah its just a tough market, I took a loss on my Mazda 3 when I sold it, but got rid of it in 1 month - and how many Mazda 3s are there around!

Before this xr5 I had two mk2 golf gti's, Mazda 3 sp25, pug 206 gti. The focus has been the best by far.

              Its a manual...

Definitely not priced too high... but even then ppl can still come and discuss it and offer me a price...

Its just strange because it is such a good car and my last car (s15 200sx - also a great car) sold in 1 day...

I'd agree - mine sits mid range for the model and km's, but not even getting interest.

Could be your advertisement doesn't invite people to look at the car. Or the photos are too dodgy.

Or you live in the wrong suburb. There are suburbs in Sydney that I wouldn't buy a car from no matter what.

If you are getting enquiries then possibly your tone of reply is putting them off.

The used car market is ****.

It took me 3 weeks to sell a 2004 Subaru Outback for 4k.

My R has been on the market for months now. Mainly the high kms are putting people off, but there just doesn't seem to be that much interest out there.

It was also $5000 less when new and not as good so you'd expect it to be substantially less on the used market.

Took me 6 months to sell a Honda (despite known for reliability) this year and finally sold at only $2k extra on trade in offer!

Had an interesting talk to a multi franchise dealer last week as I had some warranty work done on my clutch , thinking of MK7 GTI mid next year .

Trade in value , " you will be burnt " even with my low KMS , the market is flooded with used cars , why buy used when you can step into new with zero or very low interest finance , no matter the brand its all down hill .

Recently watched on carsales a 2012 Skoda superb V6 awd $56,000 new , started at $39k and drop to $29k in 3 months , almost 60,000km , which may have scared people for such a young car .

While my car was in for warranty job they lent me a Jetta TDI , most impressed , very smooth DSG with tons of grunt , impressive 3.2l/100 at a constant 100km/h .

Previous DSG's I have driven were in my view quite jerky at low speeds , this car had a mere 900km up may account for it , or is there an upgraded 6speed in the Jetta for 2013 .

                            Hey Brad,

Dont think the ad is not inviting people... Photos were taken with SLR from all angles so definitely not dodgy...

Live in a good suburb on the eastern side of melbourne so that wouldnt be an issue.

Im in sales so definitely being very accommodating...

Funnily enough, your car is on my list of saved cars to enquire about once mine sells.
