  • Help My New Mark V Wont Start!!

hey guys any advice would be much appreciated on this one!!
i got myself vw bluetooth and installed it today.
i went by the instructions and all went well till i tried to kick the car into life
i have all the lights but no whistles!
so i tried it again but minus the bluetooth and still no go!
i did disconnect the battery before comencing and also waited the 10 mins as recomended.
only thing that i did notice was that the park light flashes next to the gear stick but other that that not really sure what to do from here
    any suggestions?

Check all of the fuses, sometimes these beasts chuck a sad when the battery is disconnected.

If you have a friendly Vag-com owner in your vicinity they will be able to tell you exactly what is going on.

i installed it this afternoon as per the inclosed instructions (only the radio plug and battery were touched)
no i havent called vw assist as yet as i assume all they will do is tow it.
i would like to be before i go down this road to know if there is something simple that i could maybe reset or fix...
im located in ryde in sydney.

jaydude02, I noticed your request for Vagcom has been deleted. Did you manage to sort it out? If so, what was wrong?

when we used vw assist years ago the guy came in a tow truck but was actually like an RACV dude... he tried to fix the prob before loading it onto the truck.

But what's he supposed to say to the VW assist people? "Yeah, I was fiddling around with the wiring and now my car won't start". I can imagine what the response would be if I told that to my dealer. $$$

where do you put VAGCOM requests? I wouldn't mind changing my config from having to unlock the car twice to get all doors unlocked - i.e. driver's door goes first, then do it again for all other doors...

I don't put them anywhere, because I already have Vagcom.

The OP started a new thread asking for Vagcom assistance in the Sydney area, but then later deleted the thread. I was just curious as to what might have happened - if he found out what the problem was?

If you have the full MFD, you can change the locking yourself, without any special equipment. Do you have the full size MFD? If so, its under the convenience menu.

i had to take the day off work today to get the car to the dealers..
1st let me say i'm a little down with this whole experience.
we picked the car up on saturday and the bluetooth was suppost to be fitted.
i made sure that this would happen by paying a visit to vw service friday afternoon whilist the car was being pre-delivered and was told no problem..
i then rang service prior to pickup on sat morning to confirm that there had been no issues and again was told all was ok!!
i will also say that due to previous other bad experiences with other dealers i thought it wouldnt hurt to keep track of what was happening and where.
SAT MORNING 9.30am :arrived at dealers NO BLUETOOTH
you can now imagine my frustration with the dealer and told them just to supply the bluetooth only i will come pick it up from service and fit it myself..
SAT afternoon fitted the bluetooth no issue as per comprehensive detailed photo included instruction's
this is where it gets grey and ugly!
i put the key in and no go....everything worked except the starter.
i presummed that it had thrown some codes leaving the car unstartable.
i will take the blame for not reading the full instructions to the end where it says on the last line "connect code reader and reset all basic engine functions".
but what i wont cop sweet is the fact that i was so stuffed around by the dealer that i felt compelled to do the job myself in order to get complete satisfaction.
when i left the service department today at 1.30 pm (in there complimentry polo)i was given no rough estimate in terms of how long but was slightly comforted in the fact that they did say that all costs incurred would be passed onto new car sales for my troubles.
so there you have it my new golf (my wifes actually whos devistated by all this)with 80kms on the clock is off to a rough start..

As frustrating as it is, at least they're covering the cost. Where I bought my car from you'd only have to look at them the wrong way and they'd start talking about it not being covered under warranty, paying by the hour, etc. For obvious reasons I stay away from that dealership now.

Funny, I only had one thing my dealer was supposed to do before delivery, and that was put Euro plates on...and do you think they remembered... I'm in Ryde too, so interested in what dealershi[ you went to, it would be comical if it was the same...

surprised they took that long to fit the blue tooth unit. I am in the eastwood area and bought my Jetta at Barloworld Five Dock. I had a problem with my bluetooth unit after three days.....they swapped it for a brand new unit which was fitted within 30 mins......I am really surprised that everyone gets a different dealer / service experience from VW who kind of pride themselves on quality.....or lack of by the sounds of it.

without naming names my dealer was slightly east of my location.
the problem i found was that some of the sales people work all weekend and have 2 days midweek off.
i you ring midweek wanting something changed as i did (bluetooth fitted)
then this is where the problems start(communication between the sales people)
none of the questions that i raised were passed on or the calls i was assured would be returned were...
                              pretty pore really!
and then they ask that we give them 9's and 10's when the survey comes....
