  • Car Died, EPC Light On, Won't Start

    Hello!
Having a horrible problem that has me really worried. I gave my car a wash today, started it up, reversed out of the back yard to put it into the garage, drove for a moment and then just stopped dead. Had to push it off the road (heavier than I thought!). Wouldn't start up again, the gear indicator lights were flashing, and there was a smell of something electrical burnt. Left it for a little while, came back and turned the ignition one click to check the lights. Gear indicator lights were now steady, but the EPC light was staying on. It started up, ran for about 20seconds, put it in drive and it died again.

Left it a while longer, started up, drove it into the garage and left it running. ECP light was on for ages, and left it idling. Gave it a few revs. Sat there, and then eventually died again.

Now we're back to the gear indicator lights flashing, no EPC light, and it won't start. What also happens is the fans start up and run at full speed.

So it's stuck in the garage, and can't move it anywhere, with no VAGCOM!

I know that's really the only way to check for faults, but I just can't move it anywhere/to the dealer!

    I'm thinking coil packs?

And now after leaving it overnight, it's started up fine, and all the lights are gone. Water in one of the coils?
