Seat drawer storage- in Golfs?

redgti20t, i've got a 5dr MY08. I assumed that they came with all MY08's, although going by Tim and Splashalot's post, I gather this may not be the case???

Tim/Splashalot, out of curiosity do you guys have leather seats? Perhaps the drawers only come with the leathers seats??

I didn't request (or pay for) the drawers as an option, so I guess I was just lucky that my car came with them!

My MY08 GTI 5 door with leather has the drawers in front! Cool little hidee holes
Wonder where the variance is?

Could it be the 3 door sliding mechanism?

Yeah, I have MY08 5 Door GTI with leather seats, and I got the drawers...I hide my GPS in their (oh no, now you all know...mind you the cradle stuck to the wind screen could be a give away!) I never asked for the drawers, I assumed they were standard!

I have a 5door GTi with leather and heated seats and no drawers.
Mine was delivered in Oct07.

Would love some drawers. How much?

seems to have no relationship between whether seats are leather or 3dr/5dr.
Mine was Jan 08 build, leather, 5 dr. I'll be checking to see if I have the drawers as one of the first things i do when it arrives

Are they supposed to be fitted as standard? They're in the manual, but that doesn't count for much.

Also, what was shipping like for the drawers, I wouldn't mind so much buying them and perhaps a few other things.

I have a 5D MY08, Aug 07 bulid, with no underseat drawers I've got leather too. Strange...

FWIW I have made numerous visits to the local VW dealer over the past 12 months.

In both their new car show room and their used yard I have yet to see a MkV Golf of any type fitted with u/seat drawers.

Every Jetta I have looked in, has had the drawers fitted.

So it is safe to say the Golf does not have drawers fitted as standard issue. The Jetta does have drawers fitted as standard.

If you happen to have a Golf that has the drawers fitted from new, then consider yourself lucky.

The answer back was that the storage drawers would not fit my GTI. They also hinted that if the car didn't come with them, the reason was it wasn't suited.

Looking at the install guides, I can't see why they wouldn't fit. I have leather + heated seats, but no electrics. Not sure if it is because of heating, air bags, or the sound system.

This is the classic fob off you get from every dealer.

If they admit the drawers do fit then they have to answer difficult questions, like, why does the Jetta have them and the Golf doesn't, particularly when you are buying the premium Golf.

There is nothing in it for them.

They will say anything to get you out of their hair.

It is amazing how little most dealers representatives know about the product they are selling and I'm not just referring to VW.

They looked a great idea from the brochure.
Nice big pictures, looked as big as the boot.
But in reality not much can be stored in them.
Your not missing that much guy's.

To anyone contemplating fitting the drawers, go and look in a Jetta at your local dealer.

Decide for yourself whether you want/need the additional storage.

Everyone has a different idea as to what they want, so it is important you make your own decision.
