Seat drawer storage- in Golfs?

Hi guys

my dealer says that the drawer storage under the seat is not available in Australia. From what I've read here, it seems like a standard on the Jetta but I haven't hear about the Golf?

Anyone has seat drawers for their Golf?

And anyone installed a seat drawer themselves? Some of the US forums have clear instructions and it seems relatively easy but I'm just afraid of compatibility issues...

Somewhat OT, but I have them in my Jetta and was dissapointed by the size. They look huge from the front but inside are rather small. Still any extra sort-of-hidden storage is good.

Further gotchas: If you have the premium sound you may have an amplifier under the passenger seat - that may not allow the drawers. I understand that the heated/electric leather also doesn't fit the drawers due to all the motors and crap under the seat but I am not 100% sure about that.

My passengers keep grabbing the drawer handle to adjust the seat position. It's not obvious that the adjuster is nearer to the exhaust tunnel.

my golf gti doesn't have them but my pogo gti does...i like them...very useful!!

the gap under the golf seats seems a lot smaller than the polo for some reason...and theres the amp issue.

I have fitted the U/seat drawers to both front seats in my R32.

The passengers side drawer I purchased from my local VW spares dept.

The drivers side drawer cannot be purchased locally, I had to buy mine from OEMplus in the US.

My seats are leather and heated and I have the amplifier under the passengers seat, none of it interfered with the drawer.

If you have the optional electric seats then I believe you cannot fit the drawers.

Fitting is extremely easy, (no drilling) as the underseat pan has all the holes already there (plus a heap of others as well ).

On the R there was a black plastic box thingy under the left side of the seat that I relocated to the back of the seat using exisiting holes.

The seats do not need to be removed, just take out the four seat track bolts and tilt the seat backwards, there is then heaps of room to work without disconnecting the airbag or any other wiring.

When I bought the drawer from OEMplus I ended up with another passengers side drawer kit after I had already purchased the local one, so I still have it and will probably end up flogging it on eBay.

If you think about it, it is obvious that VW use the same seat pans and frames for all Golf & Jetta models and just vary the trim and screw on options to suit.

That's the explosive charge for the ejector seat. It's standard on the R32 but optional on the others. Requires sunroof.

I hadn't heard this before. Are you sure it's true for all MY08 GTI's. Is yours a 3dr or 5dr?

Tim/Splashalot, out of curiosity do you guys have leather seats? Perhaps the drawers only come with the leathers seats??

I bought some from tm tuning and fitted them myself (I'm used to Japanese cars, and the lousey amount of storage space drove me nuts.

Don't get me wrong, these drawers are very small in capacity, but are ideal for the loads of small things you accumulate, and also for precious things that you want to remain out of view.
