Thanks Reyne for your post, it does appear that there is a software issue with a number of GT Sports. I just had a chat with AustralVW, very helpful and knowledgeable engineer Giles, who informed me that the Engine ECU needs to be updated via Update Disk 38. So I'm in the process of getting mine booked in at a Melbourne VW service centre to have it done. Will let you all know of progress.

GT Sport TSi Issue

Just curious, if it's a software issue, shouldn't every GT sport TSI be effected? Or is this only with the later MY08 models?
Another thing, would enabling the Winter mode help test whether our super chargers are working correctly?
I know in my MY07 the turbocharger works fine since I can feel the power kick in when I hit ~2600 rpm, but given how all the reviews rave on about how the switch over from super to turbo is seemless, I'm thinking maybe my supercharger isn't working as it should.
Winter mode supposedly halves the boost power and when I did switch it on, the car felt much heavier when taking off normally from a stand still, this would imply that my supercharger does work. But it doesn't explain why I feel the power jolt when the chargers switch over.
Any thoughts?

Hi,
Greetings, I come from Singapore and drive a 2007 golf gt 1.4 tsi, 170HP.
I have similar issues after my 15K servicing (normal oil change) at the dealer.
I noticed the boost gauge is not as responsive as before. It always stays dead zero under normal driving conditions. But when I give it more juice, it swings all the way to full. So it is always "ON" or always "OFF". This is different behaviour from before the 15K service. Before, in any gear, the boost gauge is very sensitive to the acc. pedal. Just step on it a little and I can see it swing to 1/4. A little more, it swings to 1/2, some more, 3/4.
Another issue is that when cruising on the highway at 80-90KPH in 6th gear, when giving it some acceleration (overtaking, going up a slope), it feels so underpowered and sometimes there is a vibrating/rattling noise from the engine/ transmission.
Went back to dealer and the technical manger test drove my car. He said nothing wrong with the power. But he heard the rattling noise and said it is not normal. After checking with Germany, 1 month later, he said the current software version 24M3 has this issue ( I have been updated with this software version during the 15K servicing).
Just want to know what software version you guys have on your GTs. Mine is 24M3.

I just had my 15K service done today and the ECU got updated to 24M3 and I'm experiencing the same "problems" as you are.
I say "problem" because while the boost gauge doesn't seem to behave as it did before the update, I haven't noticed anything mechanically wrong with the performance. I don't have rattling in the engine bay either.
I was driving on the freeway at 100km/h on 6th and it cruised just fine. I did some light acceleration to 110ish and it was still fine.

Hi Warhead,
I don't get the rattling all the time too. When the dealer's foreman test drove my car he did not detect it. But when the technical manager drove it, he manage to duplicate the issue.
I do notice if you step on it too much and it downshifts, then most likely it won't surface. The noise sounds really damaging although dealer said no problem at all. When I asked them where does it come from, they could not tell.

Sounds like the DSG picked the wrong gear for you.
If you're on 6th and you're cruising below 90ish, there isn't going to be any power there for responsive acceleration and you should drop back to 5 or even 4 (depending on how fast you want to accelerate).
What you're most likely hearing is the engine laboring. Ie try driving at 30-40km/h on 4th gear. You'll hear the engine give off this rattling sound as it struggles but once you hit a speed that gear can handle, the sound should return to normal.

I had this same problem this morning where I lost all power underload, as soon as I hit the clutch it rev through the range perfect but underload it had no power, also don't know if it is revelant but the MFD reset itself aswellChris aka TSi2NV.

Geez that sucks TSI brothers...
The last thing you need with both a blower and a turbo is "weird" operating conditions that service staff have no idea the cause, but tell you "no worries"

They did say the engine didn't perform well when the air temp was too low (mail didn't say how low is low), but was it cold for you this morning, it might be why. Unless you've already had the 24M3 update done.
edit: I'm guessing you haven't had the update done since you can rev through the range with your foot on the clutch, can't do that after the update, rev limited to 4000rpm if you're not in gear
