  • Battery drain issue

    Hi,
    Hoping someone can help.

I have a 2006 Jetta 2.0T. I upgraded the radio to an RCD510 bought from a forum member a couple of years ago. I also upgraded the can bus gateway with one from an '08 model. Everything worked and life was good.
I have recently replaced the battery. I can't recall if it was before or after that I first heard it, but when the car was unlocked there was a 'ding' sound coming through the speakers which was a new warning sound I hadn't heard before. I have since realised prior to unlocking that this sound is also coming through the speakers with the car switched off and locked. Obviously this is draining the battery in 2-3 days.
I just removed the battery and charged it. I measured the battery drain when reinstalling and it is around 15-20 mA. Note, I have not heard the ding sound since reinstalling the battery tonight.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing the battery drain or have heard a ding sound through the speakers with the car switched off? What is the battery drain that is expected?

    Thanks
    Dan

With ignition off and either indicator left on it puts the park light on for that side and warns you via the beeping .....VDUB....

The 15-20mA is normal current draw after few minutes when you lock your car. Such a small current will not discharge your battery, unless you read the voltmeter wrong and the current is 200mA or 2A.

Thanks Transporter. The noise, and the battery drain seem to have mysteriously disappeared. Experience tells me it'll be back... and if it does come back I will re-check the current draw then
