VW golf tdi plug into laptop?

hi, i used to know someone who knew how to do this
but i want to find out more

iv heard that you can plug a golf into your laptop with a cable and change some of the settings of the on board computer.
for instance my headlights turn on when i unlock my car, that can be changed so it doesnt do that.

anyone know more about this?

Take a little peek at VAG-COM / VCDS, can pretty much make your car spit toast from the air vents, well, almost .

You should be able to change that in the menus in the instrument cluster. It's the 'Coming Home' function.

Any reason why you don't like your head lights turning on when you unlock the car? That feature created a fuss when it was first introduced on the MkV's. Are you from Sydney? I've got a VCDS Ross Tech cable if you need some help with coding.

its more than the headlights im thinking, but i was hoping more than when i switch the car off that the lights can turn off. although its polite from people, so many people always rush over and say my headlights are on when they take 30 seconds to turn off

but wasnt sure if i could also use the cable to make the car run more economically or if it doesnt have that ability in its programming
