Not enough people have REVO in Melbourne.

They're all the same s..t.

When you chip, you'll go, Ohhhh is that it. I thought it was going to fly.

Then you'll decide that the car should have been made this way from the first place by VW.

APR - Lots of local support but expensive
GIAC - Good support if you know the people and i think the cheapest atm
Bluefin - is a more DIY but has support from other members
REVO - its iffy. not a lot of people have gone for it and its the only chip that ive heard stories that has caused problems to vehicles in a way where you have to reflash the entire ecu or replace the ecu.

go for your local support so if it stuffs up you can go get it fixed.

This one was trotted out when I chose REVO. No-one was ever able to produce the original source, so I put it down to KW

I have seen a majority of guys in UK GTi forums have the REVO flash and no complaints.

Personally i'd be finding a decent mechanic and using the tune they support.

Will save you an absolute bucketload of hassle if anything goes wrong or you'd like to do more mods etc.

...and therein lays the problem. The DIY aspect of Bluefin is what won me over.

I reckon you should do that, irrespective of the tune they support. Sometimes, choice is tainted by allegiance to a particular tune, rather than the competence of the mechanic. I am sure objectively, most decent mechanics will find little difference between the available, commercial tunes.

A different angle? Product resale value. I have only has my GTI for two and a half weeks and lovn it(2200km so far)

I know I will have my car for a maximum of 3 years on a novated lease (I'm a rep) Is the blue fin transferable from car to car? i.e when my lease is complete, could I return my car to standard tune and then sell the bluefin to someone else? Even if you only got 50% of your money back you woulld be miles in front!!! Is that possible / feasible? Does it only recognise one ECU for life?

I beleive all other products (being a flash or a chip) would obviously stay with the car, but could bluefin have a 2nd hand market?

Any thoughts?

I'd swear by Revo but that's because I've got it.
Like everyone else that is chipped I'm happy BUT I've only tried Revo. Prior to VW releasing a new programme mid 2007 some companies were having problems with fuel cuts (do a search) but this has been fixed now.
If you still aren't sure speak to the Melbourne agents and find one that has a workshop that you trust.
It's your money and your car so you have to feel it is worth it.

Got REvo'd on thursday night from Audvolks and baby baby, it goes like the proverbial you know what.....I havent even fine tuned it yet, was a bit too dark to for high speed runs down the street.
Had the trial flash first and havent looked back.Theres alot of support from the guys at Audvolks..

The tuner I use can dynotune and program the factory ECU. Will be doing it over the next few months when I have got time. He has already done a 2.0L GT TDI which some good results.

Are you in Sydney mate , I would like to talk with your tuner to see what he can do for me

So the Bluefin is $1399 or thereabouts, but according to this thread the GIAC is cheaper?

I'm looking to do the flash, torque bar and better DV, is there anybody in Melbourne that is competent and can do all 3?
