DIY Jetta B pillar trim vinyl wrapping

Hi....

Hated my B pillar trims as there where the mat black kind and no matter what you do they get finger marks and turn white and discolour..... new gloss black trims from a turbo jetta were around $70 each x6....soon adds up to a big bill......Bought a $24 sheet of gloss black vinyl wrap from Ebay.......what do you think...about 30 mins per trim and cant tell its a sticker coating and the edges came up nice! Now just the rear doors to finish tomorrow to complete the look....not bad for $24!.....VDUB....

yeh I saw the ebay stuff thats like a kit but didnt get it as it was cut to size so thought you might see the edges if not quite 100% lined up....I just got a big sheet and cut it with plently to over lap....plus removing the trims you get the better finish as no edges to line up...good luck mate....post some pics when you do it...I will mine when the rears are done

cool....makes mine look crap!...looks full gloss, mine show like orange peel paint...how did they go on? edges ok? did you get the smaller rear ones too? how much you pay for them?....

all done in 10 minutes, rear ones done also....approx $42 delivered from US.



1 of the 6 pieces was 10mm shorter but, i am happy

Dont like mine now ...... found a ebay seller that does it in sheets like i bought but asked if his was total mirror image or like mine...hes sending me a sample so will have a look at both types he has...if its gloss black totally flat mirror reflection...i will rip mine off and start again. !

hi creampuff, that looks really good and i just did some searching and i saw that on ebay there seem to be 2 types of covers.

1 version seems to be a vinyl overlay and the other is a polycarbonate cover.

Which version did you get?

How durable is it if you still have it now?

My matte black standard ones are fading so i just want to get that fixed if possible, anybody else have ideas?

I think mine are polycarbonate, they are hard wearing and still look new after 2 years.
I just looked on Ebay and can't find mine anymore..sorry mate

do you find that they stick out a lot? or that an edge is clearly visible between the original on the car and the new polycarbonate that's stuck on top of it?

Also are the edges countered towards the car?

there's still a few options around so just want to see if this is viable or best to just replace them jetta door trim piano black | eBay
