  • Help! Water leaking in footwell (Mk5 Jetta)

    Hi guys,
I'm currently dealing with a water leak in both the passenger and driver's footwells in the cabin of my Jetta.
There's really quite a lot of water, but luckily I've managed to get rid of most of it.

But what could it be? Is it the AC drain plug? Can anyone help direct me to where this is and how to check if it's blocked?

    Thanks,
    JT.

      Has it got a sunroof?

If so, the drains in the pillars are probably blocked.

A/C drain is on top of the tunnel, under the dash in the middle.

        Cheers.

        Nope, no sunroof.

I did have a windscreen replacement under insurance a couple months ago. Since then I've had problems with condensation etc and hearing wind noise. Could this possibly be the issue? Would a leaky windscreen cause water to drip down by the footwells?

          Thanks.

            Yes, absolutely possible.

Hmmm. I think that may be the problem. There was a LOT of water.

I'm booked in tomorrow at the glazier who replaced the screen. They're going to pressure test it and they're going to pay for the cleaning cost involved in cleaning up the water.

                Update: It was the windscreen.

The jughead who did the original replacement left a gap in the sealant so water was able to enter the cabin.

I'm livid, to say the least.
