  • Tail Light help. Broken plastic..

Hey guys, Just recently washed my car and found out the tail light was loose, moved it abit and it completely came off. I noticed the part where the screw goes into has broken off somehow..
Is there any way to fix this or will I have to just get a replacement?
Its a Golf R32 with Perform tail lights I believe
Would anyone know how much just 1 rhs tail light would cost roughly and where to get it from?

here are a few pictures of the back of the tail lights.

here is what they look like

They look like aftermarket ebay specials are they? If so, I'm not at all surprised they broke.

You could get it plastic welded up, or probably find another pair on ebay for $100.

If they are aftermarket you will have a hard time finding an individual light. Even the manufacturer will often only sell them as pairs

EDIT: 05 08 VW Golf V 5 Chrome Tail Lights Brand NEW Bargain | eBay
But if it were mine, I'd find a nice standard set

Oh k cool thanks, yeah I found a receipt from the past owners which they purchased them for $80 lol
so I guess its better off just buying a whole new set, not worth finding some one to plastic weld it right?
      thanks

Buying that car I would have been chasing the seller for the original set if they had them. They are worth around 500+ from VW Parts. Looks best. Those or OEM Valeo LED tails.

You could get some araldite and a plastic wall plug and glue it in , cut it to the right length ,no one would be any the wiser .

I have no idea what plastic welding is worth, as I've always done my own (and customers while I was in a panel shop), but you might be able to find someone to do it for under $50
If you have the piece that broke off you could always try to simply glue it back on (use JB Weld or Quik Fix etc)

But, every set of aftermarket lights I've ever seen have been complete rubbish in quality and fit. NO EXCEPTIONS.
You would be better off (IMO) finding a decent standard set

There are a number of version by JOM which may interest you if you would like to try some LEDs:

              JOM - Main page » Catalogue » Vehicle Types » Volkswagen » Golf V » Lightstyle

Work out quite reasonably priced when landed.

                Tail Light help. Broken plastic..

                Thanks everyone!

I've found these on eBay and was wondering what you think about them http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com.au/vi...d=130489852132

Do you think that any eBay ones would be cheapo quality? I'm looking for ones with the black background and not smoky tinted ones if that makes sense. thanks!

Noooooooooooo...They are ghastly for a R32..don't do it!

Going by what you described I would say these are better FK Automotive LED Tail Light SET Volkswagen Golf MK 5 2004 2009 | eBay

I had a similar set but with red lenses and they looked OK. You will need to swap over the reverse and fog lenses though, which is a bit of ****ing around.

Personally, I'd stick with OEM R32 (what I have on mine now) Original Hella VW Golf 5 V MK5 R32 Lights Taillights SET Cherry RED Rabbit | eBay

or these Volkswagen VW Golf MK5 2003 LED Tail Light Rear Lamp Valeo Right Left Pair | eBay A bit of research can find these in RHD style.

You own the envy of most Golf enthusiasts, treat it to quality parts
I used to be indecisive - now I'm just not sure....

Up to the individual I think. If the owner likes them, then she is entitled to go with them. Not exactly my style either, but hey, we are all individuals.

I like the Valeos myself, but I'm biased. And you don't need to worry too much about the fog lens position, that can be changed over.
