I ordered mine last year, early December I think.. I requested for an '08 compliant plate, hence the wait... GAH! it's killing me.. are you waiting for one too?

I ordered a GT Sport TDI DSG with Xenons & Sunroof in Graphite Blue, placed the order on 13.11.07 with my dealer. Car due to reach Port Kembla NSW on 18.02.08 with delivery to me T.B.A. The wait continues........................

What I've ordered.

1/ Your dealer can give you the VIN fairly early on.

2/ I'm getting the diesel

3/ RNS510 as advised by dealer after talking to workshop person who had been on the RNS510 training course.

4/ I chose to wait so that I could get RNS510 factory fitted.

5/ 2nd week of 2008 was first week for GT Sport out of SA to have RNS510 factory fitted.

6/ Car was to start build on 12 Jan actually completed on 17 Jan.

7/ Car loaded onto ship 31 Jan (2 weeks after build)

8/ Armed with this info you should not need to hassle your dealer no matter how eager you are.

9/ Will keep track of timing and update so as to help others in the future.

10/ Gee it's pissing down here in Sydney!

If you have the vin you go to http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/cargoTrack.do
Then select auto cargo and input the vin in the search thingy and hey presto if they have the car all the shipping details will appear Any problems feel free to pm me.

I order mine on 5Jan, they told me 16 weeks to wait....

the dealer told me my car is being built this week and the sales promised to give my VIN to me when he has information. i have sent an email to him requesting for it yesterday but no reply yet. i will keep chasing them until i get a number.

Mine is also being built as we speak however the VIN number has not been entered on the system.
Spoke to my dealer only an hour ago about this as i have all other info like;

Allocated to production 9-Jan
In body shop 30-Jan
Leave plant 8-Feb
Arrive at despatch port 11-Feb
Arrive at Melbourne port 13-Mar

I received this info about 2 weeks ago. But still no VIN number.
I have asked them to chase it up for me.

Further to this i received an email today from the sales guy saying my car is to begin production on the 9th.

There was a production delay in South Africa of approx 2 weeks which sent all production back approx 2 weeks, can't say for sure if this is affecting all cars being produced in South Africa but maybe this is why yours is running later than expected. Also the info that the dealer gives changes week to week and in fairness its not their fault, as this comes direct from factory. I had 3 different production start dates and car was on the production line for 2 weeks instead of 5 days. In the end I gave up trying to follow it and just said to myself it will get here when it gets here, no need chasing something you have no control over and getting all anxious about it

You make it sound so simple! I have been trying for weeks now to get dealer to give me VIN for GTI ordered in late Oct / early Nov 2007 - all I can get is a CONN number, which means nothing to me.

When further probed to give confirmation that RNS 510 will be fitted as ordered I was told “it will be a genuine VW accessory” – duh no kidding!

First impressions of VW Australia are not good! If they screw up the order on RNS 510 I’ll defiantly not be a happy customer.

That wouldnt make a difference.
Anything ordered in DEC would be an 08 build anyway.
I also ordered in 1st week of Dec.

i ordered early dec and am getting mine on friday or monday. just got a call from the dealer. then again i'm in perth, so i don't know if that makes a difference..

Does 08 build make that much of a difference? id have thought MY08 was the main point, id have preferred an 08 build, but as it is i figured id have to wait at least another 2 months to get it one so was happy enough that mine is 07.


Just for the record, it has a built date of 12 August and a complianced date of 21 Novemeber.
